What to say about this wedding….. I have known Phara for probably about 7-8 years? I first met her through Glassell School of Art and my friend Ula. We both hung out with Ula’s crowd of Russian and other Eastern European ex-pats. There was always art, photography, music, tango dancing, yoga and creativity around. And lots and lots of wonderfully expressive kids. Camping too ( which to get me to go camping is a major feat, I much prefer the comforts of a hotel room).

This wedding was at an old carriage factory in Lockhart, Texas. It is owned by Phara’s midwife, Michele. Such a beautiful place. I hear they may be opening up to do more weddings and events soon! The theme of the wedding was sort of this mix of Balkin tradition and Dia de los Meurtos/Day of the Dead. Some people even wore costumes. It was all lovely and quite grand. If I am not mistaken, pretty much everything for the wedding was put together and done by friends. In any case, it was such an incredible event and I am so happy I got to be a part of it.

“I want to learn more and more to see as beautiful what is necessary in things; then I shall be one of those who make things beautiful. Amor fati: let that be my love henceforth! I do not want to wage war against what is ugly. I do not want to accuse; I do not even want to accuse those who accuse. Looking away shall be my only negation. And all in all and on the whole: some day I wish to be only a Yes-sayer.” – Friedrich Nietzsche
